Is anyone still reading?

Hi everyone. I know it's been a long time since I've rapped at 'cha. I really don't want blogging to feel like a chore - otherwise, what's the point? - but lately it has, hence my reluctance to post. I'm not outright eightysixing the blog - that'd be just a touch dramatic - but I've been so busy over the past month or so that I haven't had time to sit down and write, as much as I've wanted to.

So, I've got a rare Friday night off. My boss was out all week with the flu, which ran roughshod over my usual Wednesday off. He's back today, so I took today off. (I know the last three sentences were syntaxically nightmarish. Shut up.) All the kids are at work, so I've been taking some time to pay some bills, hang out, get some menu ideas down on paper, and plan the next few months of my life.

The most exciting thing of the night, sadly enough, has been the two hours I've spent on my personal budget. I'm not massively in debt or anything, but I've built up a little bit, thanks to some emergency (and not-so-emergency) expenses. I was looking at the numbers earlier today, and it was just intimidating, especially when there are things I want to do in 2009 - like buy a car, work for a couple weeks in France, and move to an apartment that contains an actual bedroom. So, I sat down with the bills and calculator, and was pleasantly surprised. I'll have my Juniper Visa (the company that holds the loan on my computer, aside from being a normal credit card) paid off by the beginning of March, my Capital One card (which was supposed to be used just for "emergencies" in the UK last February) paid off by the beginning of May, and a down payment for a decent car in mid-July. This is exciting stuff, people. My life is becoming (gasp) ORDERLY!

Anyways, I really have no other news. Just wanted to share that with y'all.

No, I'm not doing a real post, because I've just been working, and that's nothing exciting.
I'm just going to say that I'm really disappointed in both Kanye West's and Common's new albums. You're both better than this. Hopefully this'll make you feel worse than if I just yell at you.
Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Seriously, there's absolutely nothing of relevance in my life worth reporting on. Not to say there's nothing relevant in my life - things are happening, but the story of my past couple of days would bore you to tears - a "I woke up at 8 and made a pot of coffee and went to work at 11 and we were slow so we closed at 8:30 then we went out and I had two drinks and some onion rings that were burnt" kind of thing.
I did buy myself a Christmas present, because I've been incredibly awesome about paying off my credit cards. Looking to get out of town in January or February, but right now the cost is too prohibitive, especially since it's nice to see the credit cards get closer and closer to zero.
What was I saying? Oh yeah, my Christmas present:

From art.com, because I'm a huge nerd. It's about 15"X17" including the frame - the picture isn't quite accurate because I got it cropped around the white part of the picture itself, with a 1" mat around it, so it doesn't look quite so rectangular.
Anyways, I'm off to work.

The vindictive Obama scenario.
He "appoints" Hillary as Secretary of State. Hillary resigns her Senate seat. Obama takes back his offer. Hillary is left without a job.
I kid, of course. I can think of a million reasons this would be a bad idea.
Might be a little funny, though.

This has gone too far.

I just heard someone throw up outside my building. Lovely.
Happy Thanksgiving Eve Eve. I'll be going back to Greendale (funny, I almost said "Wisconsin", until I remembered I live in Wisconsin now.) to celebrate the holiday with the family, sans my freedom-hating-latte-sipping-Canadian-brother. (That was a joke. Everyone laugh now. NOW!) It'll be nice to decompress for a few days.
Off to work. I'll be careful not to step in anything.

Thank you, internet, for being a sadistic piece of $#%(!$***.
I should really just get a Twitter account if I'm going to post like this.
On to bigger, better things.
